The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced its ambitious plan to promote 28,288 teachers this year, marking a significant boost in career advancement opportunities for educators across Kenya. This initiative will bring the total number of promoted teachers within the last two years to an impressive 59,792.
TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi made the announcement during the release of the 2024 KCSE results, highlighting the commission’s commitment to professional growth and teacher development. He urged eligible teachers to seize the opportunity to enhance their careers, emphasizing that increased government funding has made this massive promotion exercise possible.
As part of its broader strategy, TSC is also prioritizing capacity building for teachers. Muturi revealed that 229,292 primary school teachers are currently undergoing retooling, while an additional 60,000 junior secondary school teachers are receiving specialized training.
“These programs are essential in equipping our teachers with the skills needed to implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) effectively and cater to the diverse learning needs of our students,” Muturi said.
