The wait is almost over for the 965,501 candidates who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has confirmed that marking is complete and results will be officially released next week.
Speaking at the Omogusii Cultural Festival in Nyamira County, the CS emphasized the government’s commitment to tradition, saying, “KCSE results will be released within the next two weeks, keeping to our January tradition.” He also clarified the confusion caused by the absence of KCPE exams this year due to the new curriculum implementation.

This year’s KCSE was marked by an increase in candidates and stringent measures against cheating. Despite efforts by KNEC to curb malpractice, several incidents were reported. Over 20 teachers were arrested, some charged with facilitating exam irregularities. In Nandi, a leaked paper led to arrests, while Homa Bay saw teachers granted hefty bonds over similar offenses.
Marking for the exams, conducted in 10,755 centers, concluded on December 13, 2024, across key schools such as Alliance High, Kenya High, Moi Forces Academy, and Starehe Girls. However, some top schools faced scrutiny, with teachers barred from marking due to their alleged involvement in cheating.
As the results day draws near, many students remain anxious, especially those from schools implicated in malpractice. But for most, it’s a moment of anticipation and hope to celebrate academic milestones.
