Under the new guidelines, PAYE will now be calculated after deducting contributions such as the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), Affordable Housing Levy, NSSF, and registered pension schemes. These deductions, along with exemptions like mortgage interest (up to Ksh 30,000 per month) and employer-provided meals (valued at up to Ksh 5,000 monthly), will help salaried employees retain more of their earnings.
