The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has called on P1 teachers who applied for deployment to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) to prepare their documents as the verification process kicks off in 2025. This follows the announcement of 6,000 deployment slots for qualified primary school teachers.

TSC has emphasized that eligible teachers will be posted as Term Two begins, offering a crucial opportunity for those who missed out during previous deployment phases. Successful applicants will teach both Grade 7 and Grade 8 learners in JSS under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
To qualify for the deployment, teachers must meet the following criteria:
1. Active registration under TSC.
2. Be currently employed as a primary school teacher with no disciplinary issues .
3. Hold a Diploma in Education with a KCSE grade of C+ and above, including C+ in at least two teaching subjects.
4. Alternatively, teachers with a C plain at KCSE, a Diploma in Education, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education are eligible.
TSC has advised teachers to prepare the following documents for verification:
– Original and copies of degree/diploma certificates and academic transcripts.
– KCSE certificates (or their equivalent).
– Current payslip and a declaration letter from the school head confirming the teacher’s active service and clean record.
– Special Needs Education (SNE) certificates, where applicable.
The commission further clarified that Sub-County Directors will oversee the verification process and notify successful candidates of their postings.
TSC’s directive is part of its broader plan to bridge teacher shortages in JSS while ensuring that qualified educators uphold the delivery of quality education under CBC.
