Kenyan secondary school finalists who sat for the 2024 KCSE exams can expect their results in January 2025, as announced by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba. While marking is in its final stages, the CS stated that the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is currently focused on completing grading to ensure accurate results.

This year, more than 960,000 candidates participated in the national exams held in 10,755 centres across the country from October 22 to November 22. Speaking during Kabete National Polytechnic’s fifth graduation ceremony on December 12, Ogamba emphasized that the marking process is still ongoing, and a specific release date has not been set.
“We are in the marking stage, and once it is complete, the results will be released. While I can’t give an exact date, candidates can expect them in January,” Ogamba said.
Exam Integrity Under Scrutiny
Despite efforts to maintain exam integrity, 621 candidates were implicated in malpractice this year. Cases involved possession of unauthorized materials, use of mobile phones, and collusion with non-candidates. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is pursuing additional cases, including the arrest of a man suspected of running a Telegram group that leaked exam papers.
The Ministry of Education has reiterated its commitment to ensuring fairness and accuracy in the KCSE process. With fewer cases of malpractice compared to previous years, the focus remains on delivering credible results.
