Classroom teachers across Kenya are eagerly anticipating the Teachers Service Commission’s (TSC) announcement of promotion vacancies for the 2024–2025 financial year. TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia recently revealed that the Commission has allocated Ksh 1 billion for teacher promotions, signaling a significant opportunity for educators looking to advance their careers.

During her supervision of the 2024 KCSE exams, Dr. Macharia confirmed that TSC plans to advertise thousands of promotion vacancies in December. These promotions will primarily target classroom teachers in grades C1 and C2, offering them a chance to climb the career ladder.
Currently, TSC has already advertised 5,690 promotion slots for school administrators, including positions for principals, deputy principals, headteachers, and deputy headteachers. Applications for these positions must be submitted by November 18, 2024.
Last year, TSC advertised 36,505 promotion slots for primary and secondary school teachers, costing Ksh 1 billion. This campaign received nearly 200,000 applications, though it faced criticism from some educators who claimed the process lacked transparency and fairness.
This year’s promotions will follow a similar process, with applications submitted online. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews, where they must present essential documents, including:
– Original National ID
– Academic and professional certificates
– Appointment letters to current grade and post
– KCPE/KCSE results analysis for the past three years, certified by TSC officials
– Performance appraisal reports for the last three years
TSC’s commitment to empowering educators through promotions aims to boost morale and ensure quality education delivery. Teachers are urged to stay updated on announcements and prepare for this life-changing opportunity.
