TSC Announces Major December Promotion Vacancies For Teachers . TSC to Launch Massive Teacher Promotion Vacancies in December 2024
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to open thousands of promotion vacancies across all teaching grades in December 2024, giving educators a substantial career advancement opportunity. TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia announced the promotion campaign while overseeing the 2024 KCSE exams, revealing that the government has allocated Ksh. 1 billion for this initiative. This significant budget aims to uplift teachers across primary, secondary, and special education sectors, creating growth paths for thousands of educators.

In the previous year, TSC allocated the same amount, advertising 36,505 promotion positions, with 17,914 of these dedicated to primary school teachers. The selection process then included interviews held from December 2023 through January 2024 for primary, secondary, and Teacher Training College (TTC) positions. However, some teachers expressed dissatisfaction with last year’s process, citing fairness concerns. TSC assures that this year’s selection will maintain transparency, addressing these previous concerns.

To apply for the upcoming promotions, teachers must submit applications online. Shortlisted candidates will be notified and invited for interviews. Applicants are required to present essential documents, including their National ID, academic and professional certificates, letters of appointment, certified examination results, performance appraisal reports, and any relevant testimonials.
Here’s a look at previous vacancies offered, organized from entry-level to advanced positions:
1. Senior Teacher II (T-Scale 7) for regular and SNE primary schools – 11,519 posts
2. Deputy Head Teacher II (T-Scale 9) for primary schools – 1,930 posts
3. Head Teacher (T-Scale 10) for regular and SNE primary schools – 1,079 posts
4. Senior Master IV (T-Scale 9) in secondary schools – 12,716 posts
5. Deputy Principal III (T-Scale 11) in secondary schools – 1,057 posts
6. Principal (T-Scale 13) and Senior Principal (T-Scale 14) in secondary schools – 649 posts combined
