According to KUSNET Secretary General James Torome, the first phase will see the deployment of 1,800 teachers in May 2024, followed by an additional 2,000 teachers in December 2024. By July 2025, all transferred teachers will begin receiving an allowance in addition to their regular salaries, as they transition from regular schools to special needs institutions.

Moreover, 347 teachers who were originally placed in special needs schools but later moved to regular schools will be reinstated to their former positions. Mr. Torome confirmed that these reinstated teachers will continue to receive their allowances, ensuring financial support as they return to their designated roles.

Torome emphasized that teachers working with special needs learners should focus solely on their responsibilities in the special needs units, without additional duties distracting them from their critical work. He encouraged teachers with special needs qualifications who are still in regular schools to apply for deployment, urging them to approach their roles with determination and dedication.

This strategic transfer aims to enhance the quality of education for special needs students, ensuring that skilled educators are in place to support their unique learning requirements
