The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is gearing up to recruit 20,000 interns this October, following a postponement due to budget constraints. Originally slated for July, the hiring will now focus on 18,000 junior and 2,000 primary school teachers. TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia revealed the challenges posed by a Ksh 10.28 billion budget cut, impacting various programs including teacher salary increments and training.

The Teacher Internship Programme aims to enhance the skills of registered unemployed teachers through mentorship and practical experience. Applications will be accepted online, with eligibility criteria including a PTE or DPTE certificate for primary school interns, and a diploma plus KCSE grades for junior school interns.
