The CPG serves as a framework for promoting teachers, ensuring they can advance through the ranks efficiently. According to TSC, these rules facilitate the implementation of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs).

Current Promotion Pathways for Teachers
From B5 to C1:
Grade B5 is the entry-level position for primary school teachers, also known as Primary Teacher II. Newly hired educators start here. After three years in this role, teachers automatically advance to Grade C1 without the need for additional qualifications or interviews.

From C1 to C2:
Teachers in Grade C1, referred to as Primary Teacher I, must apply for promotion to C2, known as Senior Teacher I. This transition is competitive, requiring an online application when TSC announces vacancies.
From C2 to C3:
Grade C2 is designated for Senior Teacher II. To be eligible for promotion to C3 (Senior Teacher I), educators must have served at least three years in Grade C2 and successfully participate in promotion interviews. Notably, secondary school teachers begin at C2, advancing to C3 after three years without needing an interview.
These new guidelines aim to provide clarity and fairness in the promotion process, encouraging teachers to pursue their career advancement with confidence.
