Firm Stance Against Poor Performance and Misconduct

TSC strictly enforces the Code of Regulations for Teachers (CORT) to address poor performance and unethical behavior. Section 54(2) allows for dismissal of teachers who consistently underperform or receive negative evaluations, ensuring teaching standards remain robust.

Disciplinary Process

Section 154 of the CORT outlines a transparent disciplinary procedure. The Commission informs teachers of decisions promptly and provides reasons within twenty-eight days of hearings, as outlined in the Thirty-Seventh Schedule.

Penalties for Misconduct

If misconduct is established, the Commission may impose penalties such as written warnings, suspension without pay for up to six months, retirement in the Public Interest, or dismissal from teaching services. Medical reviews may also be conducted to assess fitness for teaching.

Preventive Measures

Before imposing sanctions, TSC undertakes several preventive measures:

1. Reviews performance evaluations and contracts for institutional heads.

2. Raises awareness of goals and objectives.

3. Identifies and addresses performance gaps through interventions.

4. Implements induction programs for new teachers and heads.

5. Establishes mentorship and coaching programs to support continuous improvement.

Recognition of Excellence

TSC acknowledges outstanding performance among teachers and heads through criteria including professional achievements, responsibility handling, documentation upkeep, attendance, development appraisal, student success in national exams, teamwork, education quality enhancement, participation in extracurricular activities, research, innovation, and community engagement.

This approach ensures that TSC promotes excellence while maintaining accountability in the education sector.
