 Proposed Salary Adjustments
The TSC has put forward a proposal for a basic salary increase between 16% and 32%, aimed particularly at classroom teachers. Pending SRC approval, this adjustment could lead to substantial financial benefits. Teachers in administrative roles (grades C4 to D5) under the 2016-2021 collective bargaining agreement are slated for a 16% increase, while those in instructional roles (grades B5 to C3) could see their salaries rise by up to 30%.
 Timeline and Expectations
Mengich assured stakeholders that the SRC’s final recommendations on salary increments will be disclosed before the end of July. Teachers are urged to await these updates patiently as they will define the new pay structure across the profession.
Stakeholder Reactions
Meanwhile, the TSC is actively drafting the new collective bargaining agreement, which has faced criticism from the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers due to delays in implementation. The outcome of these negotiations will profoundly impact the future of teacher compensation in Kenya.
