P1 Teachers’ C2 Salary . TSC Salary for P1 Teachers Deployed to JSS Under C2 Cadre
 Introduction
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is finalizing the deployment of the third group of successful Primary Teacher Education (PTE) or P1 teachers to the C2 level. These teachers will soon begin teaching at junior secondary schools (JSS).
 Deployment and Salary Updates
The deployment program starts in the second term, and TSC announced that these teachers would receive updated salary structures. The newly deployed teachers will be stationed in junior secondary schools this term.
 Document Verification
After deployment, teachers will be assigned to schools once their documents are reviewed and verified by TSC Sub-County Directors. The TSC headquarters will also examine the documents to ensure only qualified individuals with valid credentials are appointed.
 Addressing Teacher Shortage
TSC is implementing various strategies to tackle the shortage of junior secondary school teachers in many areas. According to the commission, schools face a shortage of 99,045 instructors compared to the current count of 56,928 employed educators. To address this issue, TSC opened 6,000 additional deployment opportunities for primary school teachers holding degrees in secondary education, allowing them to apply online by March 18, 2024.
Pressure to Deploy More Teachers
There is significant pressure on TSC to deploy more educators to junior secondary schools to alleviate the shortage. Many of the previously deployed teachers to junior secondary schools are primary school instructors in job groups C1, C3, and C4.
Salary Structure for Deployed Teachers
For teachers deployed with degree certificates, they will initially be placed in job group C2, where they will start serving. Here is the salary structure for these teachers:
– Monthly Basic Salary : 34,955
– House Allowance (for other areas): 7,500
– Monthly Hardship Allowance: 10,900
– Monthly Commuter Allowance : 5,000
– Leave Allowance (paid once in January): 6,000
Proximity of Assignments
The deployed P1 teachers should be assigned to schools near their current locations to ensure convenience and efficiency.
By addressing the teacher shortage and updating salary structures, TSC aims to improve the education system and ensure that junior secondary schools are adequately staffed with qualified educators.
