DPTE Teachers Fee Structure . DPTE Updated Fee Structure 2024.
Introduction
The Diploma in Primary Teacher Education Training (DPTE) is designed for individuals aspiring to become primary school teachers. Understanding the fee structure is essential for those interested in pursuing this qualification, along with meeting other basic requirements.
Changes in Teacher Certification
Recently, the Teachers Service Commission announced plans to phase out the P1 teaching certificate. Consequently, the P1 certificate program will no longer be available, making a diploma mandatory for aspiring primary school teachers.
Advantages of the DPTE Certificate
With the official phasing out of P1 certificates, individuals holding such certificates have no choice but to upgrade to DPTE. This is the sole path for them to qualify for teaching positions in Kenyan primary schools.
Training Duration
The DPTE training typically lasts for three years. However, for those upgrading from a P1 certificate, the program can be completed in just one year.
