TSC Salary Increment Update . TSC Pay Increases: Performance Levels Across All Teachers.
Introduction
The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has released a comprehensive report on the forthcoming pay rises for teachers. This increment is set to take effect from July 2024 onwards. This initiative stems from a collaborative effort between TSC and the Kenya Association of Teachers with Special Needs (KUSNET). This complements the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the period 2021-2025. The phased implementation of these salary adjustments begins on July 1, 2023. This marked  a significant milestone in enhancing teacher remuneration. Notably, employees whose pay increment date falls on July 1, 2023, will benefit from an annual raise based on their current salaries. This salaries will be accompanied by corresponding adjustments in their salary structures and contractual language. Also subject to the stipulated review process detailed in Table 2-12 appended to the TSC notice. This salary increment will boost teachers economically.
Salary Structure and Cost Distribution
The distribution of costs is delineated into four categories, with Group 1 encompassing Nairobi, Group 2 including Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyeri, Eldoret, Thika, as well as Kisii, Malindi, and Kitale districts of Lamu City. Group 3 comprises other established cities, while Group 4 encompasses all other regions. Notably, housing assistance for Group 4 will undergo review and implementation in two phases. With this first phase slated for disbursement in August for districts transitioning on July 1, 2023. Subsequently, the second phase of reforms is scheduled to commence on July 1, 2024. Teachers are optimistic that this salary increment will be in acted by July to all TSC teachers across Kenya.
Continuation of Other Subsidies
Furthermore, existing subsidies, if applicable, will continue to be disbursed as per standard procedures. For detailed information, please refer to Appendix B under the TSC laws. This will give a deep insight on how salary increment will take place from July 2024
