Qualification and Benefits
Successful candidates are required to attend scheduled interviews at the US embassy to determine visa issuance. Those issued visas become permanent US residents, enjoying rights as per US laws. Individuals with a high school education or equivalent, or relevant work experience, are more likely to qualify
Exclusion of Countries
During last year’s application, 18 countries were ineligible for the DV-2025 program due to high immigration rates to the US over the past five years. These countries include Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including mainland and Hong Kong-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
Previous Results
In the previous lottery, 3,760 Kenyans were selected for US visas out of 22,185,619 applicants worldwide. Only 143,000 secured slots, with 55,000 receiving visas after embassy interviews.
Selection Process and Limitations
Winning the lottery doesn’t guarantee visa issuance, as the number of visas issued should not exceed 55,000 nationals, according to the US State Department.
