Promoting Struggling Teachers First . Elevating unsuccessful teachers in promotions: TSC’s Focus on Upcoming Promotions.
In the latest update from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), the destiny of teachers awaiting promotions in 2024 has been unveiled. In the last promotions, many teacher were unsuccessful hence making no upgrade in their job groups. But in the latest news from the TSC, it indicates a change. It will consider teachers who were not promoted.
As per TSC’s data, out of the 28,681 teachers who sought promotion last year, only 11,231 succeeded. It leaves 17,450 teachers in anticipation until 2025. This pressurizes the government through TSC. Many youth teachers are seeking promotions from the TSC.
The Teacher Service Commission’s promotion cycle aligns with its 2022/2023 Annual Report . The report was thoroughly assessed and it’s operations and offers remedies to identified hurdles. This is a big step made by TSC to Promoted eligible teachers.
The report underscores the commission’s initiatives in hiring 15,000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms . It will also  engage 26,000 interns, mainly designated to junior and primary schools, to tackle staffing deficits attributable to the 100% transition.
Recognizing the pressing demand, the head of TSC disclosed a total of 364,258 registered teachers, encompassing 8,367 primary school teachers reassigned to junior secondary schools (JSS) and 229,000 primary school teachers, alongside 55,125 JSS teachers trained for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Moreover, the report highlights challenges like insufficient staffing and facilities impeding effective ICT integration in education, along with addressing mental health issues among educators.
In a recent update, subsequent to the 2023 December/January 2024 TSC promotions interviews, certain educators received their outcomes, comprising a blend of achievements and setbacks. The commission has assured priority consideration for individuals who received regret letters in the forthcoming TSC promotions.
Through prioritizing underperforming educators, TSC aims to elevate the standard of education delivery and foster professional development within the teaching community.
