Govt Announces 46k Teaching Jobs .  Government Allocates 26.3 Billion for 46,000 Teaching Jobs: Education Sector Boosted

 

 

 

Introduction:

The government has earmarked a significant sum of Sh26.3 billion to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) . This money is set for the employment of 46,000 qualified teachers. This move aims to address the pressing need for teachers across the country . This is as per the announcement made by the National Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee chairman, Ndindi Nyoro.

 

 

 

 

Allocation of Funds:

Nyoro disclosed during the official launch of the Wundanyi Constituency NG-CDF strategic plan . TSC would recruit 26,000 junior secondary school teachers currently serving as interns. Additionally, an extra 20,000 intern teachers will join the workforce starting July, aiming to alleviate the shortage of educators in junior secondary schools.

 

 

 

 

Budget Distribution:

For the first time, the Ministry of Education receives the largest share of the 2024-2025 budget, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing educational standards. The budget estimates allocate 27 percent of the total budget for the education sector, effective from July 1, 2024.

 

 

 

 

 

Permanent Employment:

Nyoro confirmed that starting July 2024, the TSC will have the necessary funds to transition 26,000 junior secondary school teachers from contractual to permanent employment status. This move signifies a long-term commitment to providing stability within the teaching profession.

 

 

 

 

Addressing Deficits:

In addition to the permanent hires, the TSC plans to recruit an additional 20,000 teachers to mitigate the ongoing shortage experienced in many schools. This proactive approach aims to ensure that every educational institution has an adequate number of qualified educators.
