Introduction
The Kenyan ministry of Education (MoE) has made revisions to the closing dates for Term 1, 2024. Pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools will conclude their term on April 5th, signaling the commencement of the April 2024 holiday on Monday, April 8th. Following a three-week Easter break, schools are scheduled to reopen on April 29th, 2024, marking the beginning of Term 2. This changes has a major impact on the Kenyan education sector.
Condensed First Term
Currently, students will attend classes for a brief two-week period to wrap up the majority of Term 1. This moves was initially slated to span thirteen weeks according to the ministry of education calendar.
Term 2 Arrangements
Term 2 of 2024 is expected to run for 14 weeks. It will run from April 29 to August 2, 2024. A three-day half-term break is scheduled from June 20th to June 23rd, 2024, mirroring the break observed in the first term from February 29th to March 3rd, 2024.
August Break
The August holiday is designated to last from August 5 to August 23, spanning a duration of three weeks. This will give students a break from vigorous academic work . It will also give them a chance to spend with their families and relatives.
Term 3 Timetable
The third term will feature the culmination of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment over four days, from October 28 to October 31. Subsequently, all KCSE exams will be conducted from November 4 to November 22. This will give learner a chance to shift to the December holiday .
December Recess
After serious studies for a whole year in school, learners will go for a ten-week December holiday . The holiday will extend from October 2024 to January 3. This December holiday will give learners a break before the start of first term that will commence on January 2025.
