Investigation by the Equality and Justice Commission (EACC) has unveiled concerning issues surrounding parental approval in school admissions. Over 20 schools are under scrutiny in a bid to uphold justice and transparency in education.

 

Investigation Report:

EACC, in conjunction with DCI, is actively uncovering malpractices in schools across the North Rift Valley region. Schools found guilty of unethical conduct during this year’s admissions will face legal repercussions. This schools were practicing the selling of admissions letters to parents, disadvantaging students from poor backgrounds.

 

Responsibilities of School Administrators:

The outcomes of the investigation, swiftly overseen by authorities, will impact principals of 4,444 participating schools. Administrators bear the brunt of responsibility when educational misconduct occurs.

 

Affected Schools and Districts:

Numerous schools within Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, and Nyamira districts have been embroiled in the scandal, casting doubt on the reliability of the study.

 

Academic Regulation:

Student quotas in public and private schools with a cutoff of 400 points and above are determined based on individual performance. The Ministry of National Education oversees this process to ensure fairness and integrity.

 

Ministry of National Education Response:

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has vehemently condemned the illicit practice of selling admission slots to parents, deeming it unlawful. He urges schools to adhere to admission guidelines and refrain from coercing parents into purchasing uniforms from private vendors.

 

Additional Charge Notification:

Machogu has issued a stern warning against schools levying illegal fees for uniforms or other purposes. Schools found engaging in such misconduct will face appropriate sanctions.
