TSC Initiates Teacher Document Review. TSC Opens Application Portal for P1 Teachers to Address Junior School Teacher Shortage.

 

Introduction:

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has launched an application portal for P1 teachers . This is after meeting specified criteria to apply for deployment to junior schools facing critical teacher shortages.

 

Deployment Opportunity for P1 Teachers:

The Teacher Service Commission has announced 6,000 deployment slots . This slots apply for current permanent primary school employees . It will benefit teachers with a degree in secondary education to apply through the TSC  portal.

 

Junior School Teacher Shortage:

Junior Secondary schools, specifically Grade 7 and 8, are experiencing a shortage of qualified teachers. This necessitates the deployment of additional teaching staff.

 

Deployment Process and Timeline:

Selected teachers will be deployed to their new centers in an expedited manner. With this  plans underway to ensure timely deployment before the start of the next term.

 

Addressing Future Shortages:

In anticipation of future shortages, the TSC plans to recruit 20,000 intern teachers. It’s planned to happen before Grade 8 learners transition to Grade 9 in 2024.

 

Ongoing Efforts:

The current recruitment drive marks the third batch of qualified PTE teachers . This teachers are to be deployed to junior schools to enhancing educational provisions for the upcoming term.

 

Selection and Verification Process:

Following document scrutiny at the TSC headquarters, shortlisted teachers will undergo further verification by Sub-County Directors before being posted to schools.

 

Ensuring Quality Deployment:

Thorough examination of submitted documents at the headquarters guarantees that only qualified teachers with valid credentials are considered for posting to junior schools.

 

Challenges and Opportunities:

Despite ongoing efforts, the shortage of junior school teachers remains a challenge, with 99,045 teachers needed compared to the current count of 56,928.

 

Encouraging Participation:

Both B5 and C1 teachers are encouraged to seize the opportunity presented by the announced slots, which not only promise a pay increment but also contribute to career advancement.
