TSC Mandates TPAD Evidence . Teachers Service Commission Implements Mandatory TPAD Evidence Submission.

 

Introduction:

Under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), all employed teachers must now provide clear evidence of their Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) ratings. TSC initiated TPAD at the start of term one in 2024, allowing teachers to create accounts and engage in the self-appraisal process regularly.

 

Enhanced TPAD Process:

The TSC has upgraded its servers to facilitate easier mass uploading of teacher resources, ensuring efficiency in the submission process. Soon, teachers will be mandated to submit evidence for each termly appraisal, including schemes of work, lesson plans, attendance registers, individual lesson notes, progress records, and checked learners’ work, all approved by head teachers or deputies.

 

Shift in Teacher Evaluation:

There is a notable shift as the Commission plans to closely monitor teacher performance within the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC). This shift was evident in the recent teacher promotion interviews where TPAD performance played a significant role. Teachers scoring 81% and above received ten marks, while those scoring between 61% and 80% earned eight marks, leading to promotions for 36,505 successful teachers.

 

Guidelines for TPAD Challenges:

To address TPAD challenges, the Commission released stringent guidelines, urging Deputy Heads of Institutions (DHOI) to conduct lesson observations and appraisals. Additionally, school heads were directed to delegate appraisal responsibilities to their deputies effectively.

TPAD serves as an open appraisal system that empowers teachers to evaluate their performance and professional development. It aims to restore the esteemed status of the teaching profession and rebuild public confidence and support.

TPAD compliance is crucial for teacher promotions, as it serves as a key determinant in promotion interviews. Teachers failing to adhere to TPAD and lesson observation requirements risk disciplinary action, as per the Commission’s directives.
