TSC Phase II Salary Increment.Category Of Teachers To Benefit From TSC Salary Increment.
Introduction
Teachers who were hired before July 1, 2023, stand to benefit from the upcoming salary increase. This is by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) guidelines. Phase 2 of this salary hike, is set to commence on July 2024. The main aim is to boost the earnings of eligible groups of teachers under TSC.
Agreement and Implementation
Honorable Ndindi Nyoro, Kiharu Member of Parliament, unveiled the plan for phase 2 of the salary increase . Ndindi said this during the announcement of the 2024–2025 budget appropriations. This follows an agreements reached between TSC and various teachers’ unions. The agreement was reached between KNUT, KUPPET, and KUSNET. The 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) will receive a substantial portion of the Sh 369.94 billion. This money is allocated to Teacher Service Commission in the education budget.
Phases of Pay Augmentation
The pay augmentation agreement, signed on August 28, 2023. It outlines a two-stage implementation plan. The first phase, effective from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, is already in place. The second and final phase, spanning from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, will soon follow.
House Allowance Clusters
TSC Teachers will receive varying house allowance rates based on four clusters:
– Cluster 1: Nairobi City
– Cluster 2: Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru Cities, Nyeri, Eldoret, Thika, Kisii, Malindi, and Kitale municipalities.
– Cluster 3: Other former municipalities.
– Cluster 4: All other areas.
While the house allowance rates for Clusters 1, 2, and 3 remain unchanged, adjustments will be made for Cluster 4 in two stages.
Implementation and Information
The Teacher Service Commission , confirms that the first phase of the agreement, effective since August 2023. This will include arrears dating back to January 7, 2023. The second phase, scheduled for January 7, 2024, will follow thereafter. Teachers under TSC will receive detailed information from TSC in June 2024.
