P1 Teachers’ Salary Upgrade.Enhancing P1 Teachers’ Salaries for Junior Secondary School Deployment
Introduction:
Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) are facing a critical shortage of teachers. This has prompted the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to take action. Come May 2024, a third batch of trained P1 teachers under job group C2 will step up to fill this gap. This initiative aims to swiftly assign skilled teachers to classrooms and tackle the persistent shortage that has plagued these schools in recent times.
Thorough Documentation Verification Process:
Ensuring the integrity of teacher credentials is paramount to the TSC. Through rigorous documentation verification, only teachers with genuine qualifications will be deployed. This meticulous process underscores the TSC’s unwavering commitment to upholding high educational standards in junior secondary schools.
Addressing the Teacher Shortage:
With a glaring deficit of 99,045 teachers in comparison to past employment figures, the urgency to address the shortage is clear. To combat this, the TSC has expanded deployment opportunities for primary school teachers with secondary education degrees. Applications for consideration are open online until March 18, 2024.
Deployment and Pay Scale:
Teachers assigned to junior secondary schools under job group C2 can anticipate attractive compensation packages, including a competitive monthly base pay of $34,955. Additionally, varying monthly housing allowances based on location, hardship and commuter allowances, and an annual unpaid leave allowance will be provided. These teachers will remain in job group C2 for three years before being reassigned to job group C3 automatically.
Allocation and Control by Sub-County Directors:
The role of Sub-County Directors in allocating teachers to their designated locations cannot be overstated. Their efficient management ensures a seamless deployment process and optimal utilization of teaching resources.
