Taking Initiative Without an Admission Letter

Facing the challenge of unaffordable transportation, Gideon was armed with only his birth certificate and KCPE examination results slip. He made a  crucial decision to act swiftly. Instead of waiting for elusive fare, he embarked on a journey to Olbutyo Boys High School in Bomet County. He was fully aware that he lacked a formal admission letter.

Gideon’s Determination Captures Hearts

Capturing this inspiring journey, philanthropist Mutai Kiprono Daniel shared photos on Facebook. The photo revealed Gideon in the school staffroom in casual attire. Acknowledging Gideon’s determination, the school administration, moved by his perseverance.  They extended their support, leading to Gideon being outfitted in the official school pullover and black shoes.

A Struggle from a Humble Background

In an exclusive interview, Kiprono disclosed that Gideon, despite being called to a distant school, he  faced daily challenges with morning chores tending to cows before preparing for school. With Gideon’s grandparents as the primary breadwinners and his mother being a single, unmarried parent, the financial struggle was palpable.

 Gideon’s impressive KCPE score of 328 marks and his daily dedication to education did not go unnoticed.
