Kenyan Universities Licensed To Offer Law.
The Council of Legal Education recently published a detailed list of approved Kenyan universities offering law courses, including those awaiting approval. In a Gazette Notice released on Friday, the council revealed that four institutions have received approval for a Masters in Law program. (48 words)
Strathmore Law School holds a license until November 19, 2024; Mount Kenya University (MKU) School of Law’s license expires on March 23, 2026. The Catholic University of Eastern Africa Faculty of Law and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) School of Law are slated for review on June 20, 2028.
Furthermore, 17 institutions have received authorization to offer a Bachelor of Laws program. These encompass a variety of institutions, including Daystar University School of Law Valley Road Campus, Mount Kenya University School of Law Parklands Campus, University of Nairobi Faculty of Law Kisumu Campus, Kisii University School of Law, University of Embu School of Law, and Umma University School of Law.
Africa Nazarene University School of Law, Chuka University Faculty of Law, Moi University School of Law, University of Nairobi Faculty of Law – Parklands Campus, Egerton University Faculty of Law, Kabarak University School of Law, Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Faculty of Law, Strathmore Law School, Maseno University School of Law, and South Eastern University are among the accredited institutions for the Bachelor of Laws program.
Furthermore, four universities, namely Mount Kenya University School of Law at Parklands Campus, Kisii University School of Law, Kenya Institute of Management, and Catholic University of East Africa Faculty of Law, have obtained authorization to provide a Diploma in Law.
The approval status is pending for Daystar University School of Law, Mount Kenya University School of Law (Parklands Campus), and Kenya School of Law, undergoing assessments and inspections. Riara Law School and Kenyatta University School of Law are also awaiting a decision on their licenses for a Bachelor of Laws program.
